The Healing Service

Opening Hymn

Will be announced

Exposition

After the people have assembled, the following or another hymn may be sung while the celebrant comes to the altar with Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament

O Salutaris Hostia

O salutaris Hostia
Quae caeli pandis ostium
Bella premunt hostilia,
Da robur, fer auxilium.
Uni trinoque Domino
Sit sempiterna gloria,
Qui vitam sine termino
Nobis donet in patria. Amen.

O Saving Victim

O saving Victim, open wide
The gate of heav'n to us below
Our foes press on from ev'ry side;
Your aid supply, your strength bestow.
To your great name be endless praise,
Immortal Godhead, One in Three;
Grant us, for endless length of days,
In our true native land to be. Amen.

After exposition, the celebrant incenses the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Healing Service Prayers

The celebrant then begins with the opening prayer to the Holy Spirit. Then he may choose one or more of the following prayers and litanies to recite.

V. In the Name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
R. Amen.

Prayer To The Holy Spirit

V. Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit, and they shall be created.
R. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

V. Let us pray. O God, Who did instruct the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise and ever to rejoice in His consolation, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
R. Amen.

V. O Mary, conceived without sin. (Three times)
R. Pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Adoration Prayer

My Lord Jesus Christ,
I believe that You are really here in this Sacrament.
Night and day You remain here compassionate and loving.
You call, You wait for,
You welcome everyone who comes to visit you.
I thank you, Jesus, my Divine Redeemer
for coming upon the earth for our sake
and for instituting the Adorable Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist
in order to remain with us until the end of the world.
I thank You for hiding beneath the Eucharistic species
Your infinite majesty and beauty,
which Your Angels delight to behold,
so that I might have courage to approach
the throne of Your mercy.
I thank You dear Jesus, for having become the priceless Victim,
to merit for me the fullness of heavenly favors.
Awaken in me such confidence in You
that their fullness may descend
ever more fruitfully upon my soul.
I thank You for offering Yourself in thanksgiving to God
for all His benefits, spiritual and temporal
which He has bestowed on me.
Grant me grace and perseverance in Your faithful service.
Amen.

Prayer For The Sick

O Jesus, You suffered and died for us.
You understand suffering.
Teach me to understand my suffering as You do.
To bear it in union with You
To offer it with You to atone for my sins
and to bring Your grace to souls in need.
Calm my fears and increase my trust.
May I gladly accept Your holy will
and become more like You in trial.
If it be Your will, restore me to health,
so that I may work for Your honor and glory
and the salvation of all men.
O Divine Physician and Healer of the sick
we turn to You in this time of illness.
Dearest Comforter of the troubled
alleviate our worry and sorrow with Your gentle love
and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden.
Dear God, we place our worries in Your hands.
We place our sick under Your care
and humbly ask that You restore Your servant to health again.
Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge Your holy will
and to know that whatsoever You do
You do for the love of us.
Amen.

V. Mary, Help of the Sick,
R. Pray for us.

Make my hands, Your hands,
my feet, Your feet
my heart, Your Heart.
Let me see with Your eyes,
Listen with Your ears,
Speak with Your lips,
Love with Your Heart,
Understand with Your mind,
Serve with Your will,
and be dedicated with my whole being.
Make me Your other self.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
send me Your Holy Spirit to teach me to love You,
and to live through You, with You, in You and for You.
Come Holy Spirit, make my body Your temple.
Come and abide with me forever.
Give me the deepest love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
in order to serve Him with my whole heart,
soul, mind, and strength.
Take possession of my intellect,
understanding and will,
my memory and imagination.
O Holy Spirit of Love,
give me an abundance of Your efficacious graces.
Give me the fullness of Your seven-fold gifts,
fruits and beatitudes.
Most Holy Trinity, make my soul Your sanctuary.

The Sermon

The celebrant may then give a reading and/or deliver a sermon.

General Benediction

After the sermon and at the end of exposition, the priest or deacon goes to the altar, genuflects, and kneels. Then the following or another suitable Eucharistic hymn is sung.

Tantum Ergo

Tantum ergo Sacramentum
Veneremur cernui,
Et antiquum documentum
Novo cedat ritui;
Praestet fides supplementum,
Sensuum defectui.

Genitori Genitoque
Laus et jubilatio,
Salus, honor, virtus quoque
Sit et benedictio:
Procedenti ab utroque
Compar sit laudatio.

Amen.

V. Panem de caelo praestitisti eis.
(T.P. Alleluia).

R. Omne delectamentum in se habentem.
(T.P. Alelluia).

Afterward the minister rises and sings or says:

Oremus.
Deus, qui nobis sub sacramento
mirabili, passionis tuae memoriam
reliquisti: tribue, quaesumus, ita nos
Corporis et Sanguinis tui sacra
mysteria venerari, ut redemptionis
tuae fructum in nobis iugiter
sentiamus: ui vivis et regnas in
saecula saeculorum.

R. Amen.

Down in Adoration Falling

Down in adoration falling,
This great Sacrament we hail,
Over ancient forms of worship
Newer rites of grace prevail
Faith will tell us Christ is present,
When our human senses fail.

To the everlasting Father,
And the Son who made us free,
And the Spirit, God proceeding
From Them Each eternally,
Be salvation, honor, blessing,
Might and endless majesty.

Amen.

V. You have given them Bread from heaven.
(P.T. Alleluia).

R. Having all sweetness within it.
(P.T. Alleluia).

Afterward the minister rises and sings or says:

Let us pray.
Lord Jesus Christ, You gave us the
Eucharist as the memorial of Your
suffering and death. May our worship
of this sacrament of Your Body and
Blood help us to experience the
salvation You won for us and the
peace of the kingdom where You live
with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

R. Amen.

The celebrant then blesses the people with Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament

All in heaven above adore Thee.
Infinite Thy vast domain,

Angel choirs above are raising;
Cherubim and Seraphim,
In unceasing chorus praising,
Fill the heavens with sweet accord:
