EXSULTET. The Easter proclamation, sung at the Easter Vigil, beginning in Latin, "Exsultet iam angelica turba caelorum." In literal translation the opening words read: "Now let the angelic host of heaven exult, exult the mysteries divine; and for the victory of so great a King, sound the trumpet of salvation." Ascribed to St. Augustine, the Exsultet is probably of later origin.
